Imperial Land Group to invest 6bn in hotels and shopping malls


 

Imperial Land Group is planning to invest over Bt6 billion in Bangkok in hotels and shopping malls and is aiming at listed the company on the stock market by 2016. managing director Suwan Lertpunyaroj explained the reason behind the decision that “these types of property will offer more consistent growth and income to the group” as it plans to float shares on the Stock Exchange of Thailand.

The Imperial Land Group was established in 1992 by three young businessmen: Suwan Lertpunyaroj, a Thai barrister, Danuwat Paritsantik, a lumber mill owner and Wasan Lalitnoraset, the owner of garment export business. Projects under current development are Imperial Ocean Palms serviced Apartments in Phuket and Imperial Park and Imperial Laguna in Bangkok. Their first project, Petchkasem 69 Project, was completed during 1992-1994 and is a commercial building consisting of 40 units.

Mr. Lertpunyaroj said that the group had also secured a 3 rai prime plot of land in Yaowarat, spending Bt2 billion in the development of a four-star hotel and shopping complex. This is scheduled for completion in 2017. It has two more land plots in Hua Hin, where it is planning to build a four-star hotel on the beach. The company is also due to construct a hotel on New Phetchaburi Road and is looking for a suitable location in Pattaya to build a community mall. The amount to be investmented for the hotel projects totals Bt5 billion. Its yearly revenue amounts to around Bt500 million.

For the future, the group is planning for retail income to generate around half of its revenue, and plans to develop one new hotel and community mall project every year. One of their key strengths is in locating prime areas for development. Up until recently,

One of its projects already under constrauction is Imperial Ocean Palms, which has brought together some of the most well respected and professional property-related companies in the country.
